About Warddeken Land Management

Warddeken Land Management is seeking two passionate and experienced individuals to join our team as Ranger Coordinators at Manmoyi in West Arnhem Land. We're dedicated to conserving the Warddeken Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) and fostering sustainable land management practices.

About the roles

One of these roles will oversee and coordinate the activities of the Daluk (female) rangers and the other role will coordinate the activities of the Bininj (male) rangers, collaborating closely with various stakeholders.

Reporting to the Ranger Teams Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering effective land management programs within the Warddeken IPA. The Ranger Coordinators work closely with the CEO, Deputy CEO, Ranger Teams Manager, Operations Manager, other Coordinators, and the Ranger workforce to coordinate day-to-day administrative tasks and on-ground works.

The Ranger Coordinators are responsible for supporting on-the-job training and leading by example in the delivery of fire, weed, and feral animal management projects.

These positions involve regular remote travel within the IPA via 4WD, light aircraft and helicopter, and will suit someone who loves being out on-Country and camping.

About You

The successful candidates will be practical, organised and committed to working alongside Australia's First Nations people and caring for country.

The ability to apply knowledge and guidance in the planning and execution of land management work programs is essential.

The following is a summary of some of the skills and experience, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

Strong understanding of land management, fire, weed, and feral animal management practices and principles

Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds

Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous land management practices and cultural protocols

Commitment to working respectfully and collaboratively with Traditional Owners and Indigenous communities

No impediments to holding a firearm licence, willing to use firearms and gain clearance for an Ochre Card

Demonstrated experience in coordinating land management projects, preferably in a similar remote environment or with Indigenous communities.
