2026 Senior Obstetrics & Gynaecology Registrar (Accredited)
Fixed Term - Full Time; for 2026 Clinical Year
86 Hours per fortnight

About The Role

Grampians Health- Ballarat are currently seeking applications for an Accredited Registrar within the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department for the 2025 Clinical Year. The role is suited to senior O and G applicants (level 5 or 6 RANZCOG trainee).

The O&G department sees approximately 1500 deliveries each year and has 2 caesarean and 6 gynaecology theatre sessions each week.

The role will involve primary operating under supervision with a general gynaecology and obstetrics focus. Previous registrars in this role have gained competence in vaginal repair, vaginal hysterectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and abdominal hysterectomy, as well as in general more minor gynaecology operations if needed for skill development. There is monthly urogynaecologist and gynaecological oncology operating and weekly ultrasound sessions with DDU qualified obstetrician.

There will also be skill development which is suitable for transition to general obstetrician gynaecology consultancy, including clinical governance and risk management training, the opportunity for university student teaching, and access to growing research in the unit with collaboration with international trials.

Key Responsibilities

Adherence to BHS Policies and Procedures, including infection control guidelines from the Grampians Health Ballarat Infection Control Manuals.

Participation in integrated risk management and quality improvement systems, actively identifying and managing risks, and contributing to continuous workplace improvement through communication and consultation.

Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding Grampians Health Ballarat affairs, patients, clients, and staff, except where required by clinical reasons or law, extending to commercial and financial interests.

Valuing and respecting diversity at BHS, ensuring equitable access to healthcare and opportunities irrespective of cultural, ethnic, linguistic, religious background, gender, sexual orientation, age, or socioeconomic status.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBBS or equivalent degree enabling registration with the Medical Board of Victoria
  • 4 years of RANZCOG ITP training completed by the commencement of this position is preferred.
  • Successful RANZCOG fellowship oral and written examinations is preferred
