Let us introduce ourselves. We’re Elexon Electronics, part of the Elexon Group of Companies. We develop and manufacture high-tech electronic products. Our manufacturing capability is world-class, and our reach world-wide. Our team of engineers develop products that previously seemed impossible, for demanding industries such as mining, aerospace, and wildlife monitoring. We have the best electronics manufacturing equipment that money can buy, and we export Australian-developed and Australian-manufactured electronics all around the world.

We need a new Quality Manager and that’s where you come in.

We have certification to AS9100D (Quality Management Systems – Requirements for Aviation, Space and Defence Organisations). However, we think our implementation is more complicated than it needs to be. We’d like to simplify our system and make it more efficient. If you don’t have experience with this standard, don’t flick to the next ad on Seek just yet. It’s indeed rigorous, but despite its title, it's not rocket science. It’s like ISO9001 on steroids. Similarly, while we specialise in electronics, we don’t expect you to be an expert in our field. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn by working with the team to improve our processes.

What we can’t compromise on though, is being very exceptionally good at Quality systems. If you love creating systems that work; systems that are as simple as possible and that add the most value to the customer, then you can learn the electronics and the AS9100 standard on the job. We also need teamwork.

We’re also refreshing our implementation of LEAN, which means we’re actively looking for ways to improve quality and efficiency everywhere throughout the business, including by refining our quality processes. By working as a team, we’ll all get that intense feeling of satisfaction in continually getting better at what we do.

The role involves the following:

· Maintaining and improving our existing quality system. You’ll work closely with the team to simplify how we do things and make our processes a pleasure to use.

· Training, mentoring and supporting the team, including Manufacturing, to improve quality and efficiency. This will be in the context of the above-mentioned LEAN refresh.

· Ensuring that non-conformances are properly analysed to find and fix the root cause.

· Managing and conducting audits, both internal and external.

· Monitoring, analysing and reporting on key metrics. We suspect that we’re trying to monitor too many metrics; we’d rather do an excellent job of measuring a small number of metrics – and taking the right actions on them – than trying to measure everything.

· Ensuring that the customer comes first in everything we do.

· Managing various processes that are unique to Defence work, such as First Article Inspections, build reports, Certificates of Compliance, Defence Security (Defence Industry Security Program (DISP)).

Qualifications and Experience:

We need you to have the following:

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality management,

· Strong knowledge of ISO9001, and

· A track record of teamwork.
