About the role

We are seeking an experienced Gardener to join our team at the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens in Bowral, NSW. This part-time position is an opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and development of our beautiful gardens and contribute to the strategic vision of the organisation.

What you'll be doing

Undertake general garden maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, pruning, and planting

Assist with the installation and maintenance of garden beds, borders, and other landscaping features

Operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner

Contribute to the development and implementation of the garden's overall design and planting plans

Work collaboratively with the volunteers to ensure the gardens are well-maintained and visually appealing

Assist with the preparation and care of special event spaces within the gardens

Provide a high level of customer service for visitors to the garden

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years experience in a gardening or landscaping role

At least Certificate III in landscaping or horticulture

Strong practical gardening skills and knowledge of horticulture, including plant identification and seasonal plant management requirements

Familiarity with the use and maintenance of a variety of gardening tools and equipment

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation

Good physical fitness and the ability to perform physical labour outdoors in various weather conditions

Enthusiastic and visitor-focused approach with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team

Hold a current manual driver's licence
