About the role
Mess Kit Industrial Laundry is seeking a full-time laundry worker to join our small team in Dandenong South, Victoria. You will be responsible for the washing, sorting, mending and hanging of our customers garments. This is a hands-on role that requires lifting, carrying and stretching.

What you'll be doing

Sorting, loading, and unloading industrial washing machines

Operating industrial washing and drying equipment

Inspecting and repairing damaged clothing including overalls, shirts and pants

Maintaining a clean and organised work environment

Assisting with stock control and order placement

Adhering to all health, safety, and quality standards

What we're looking for

Previous experience in an industrial laundry or similar is not necessary but domestic experience will be invaluable

Basic understanding of domestic laundry equipment and processes including domestic sewing machines

Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a tidy and organised environment

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Excellent English communication and teamwork skills

Physical fitness to perform manual handling tasks and be on your feet for the duration of the shift

Prefer own transport as public transport is intermittent

The position

This position only becomes available every 5-10 years. It is hard work but rewarding if you enjoy doing a good job. We service the same customers every week so over time you come to know their garments and their requirements. Computers do the wash processes for us but it helps to know not to add a white garment to colours or to spot a woollen jumper in the mix. This is not an urgent fill but the earlier you start the longer you have to be trained by the person currently carrying out this role as she will be leaving mid August. Plenty of time to feel confident and comfortable in your new role. The hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm with some flexibility to get the job done. The person must be able to stay until 4.30pm every day. No weekend or Public Holiday work.
