About this role
Churches of Christ is looking for a Kitchen Hand / Cook to join our Residential Aged Care team in Hervey Bay on a roaster of 40 – 70 hours a fortnight. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a team environment, takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and understands the importance of good food in supporting residents' wellbeing.
Your daily responsibilities will focus on providing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for residents. You will work closely with the hospitality team to ensure high standards of service.
- Food Preparation & Service – Assist in cooking meals, setting up dining areas, and serving residents
- Kitchen Hygiene – Keep the kitchen clean and organized, following food safety standards
- Laundry & Cleaning – Maintain the cleanliness of resident areas, laundry facilities, and communal spaces
What you can bring to the team
As part of our Environmental Services team, you’ll be responsible for assisting with meal preparation, serving residents, and keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and organized. You may also support laundry and general cleaning tasks, helping to create a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
We’re seeking a motivated and reliable individual who enjoys working in a kitchen and takes pride in delivering excellent service. Experience in aged care or hospitality is beneficial, but a positive attitude and a willingness to learn are just as important.
To be suitable for the position, ideally you have:
- Experience in food preparation or kitchen work (aged care experience a plus)
- Basic food safety knowledge and ability to follow hygiene standards
- Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to excellent customer service
- Ability to work independently and take initiative when needed
Desirable but not essential:
- Certificate II in Cookery or similar qualification
Possess or willing to obtain:
- National Police Check
- Up-to-date flu vaccinations
