About the Job
This is a senior-level advisory role supporting high-impact financial reporting outcomes. Working closely with the Director of Financial Reporting to achieve better practice reporting compliance and process objectives, while ensuring a strong & high-quality financial performance for the agency.

You'll provide technical accounting leadership, develop policy, and advise on audit strategy—all within a complex federal government environment.

Who You Are
A seasoned accounting leader with 10+ years at the management level in large government or comparable organisations. You bring expert knowledge of AASB, Commonwealth financial frameworks, and audit standards—plus the confidence to engage with external auditors and shape internal policy.

Key Duties

Write technical accounting position papers and internal policy

Provide strategic advice for financial statements and audit planning

Lead discussions with external auditors and develop negotiation strategies

Offer timely, expert advice on emerging accounting issues

Support continuous improvement in reporting compliance and process design
