About The Team

The Research and Innovation Office supports the operations of all research activities at Murdoch University. This role will sit in the Research Ethics and Integrity (REI) team, who foster a culture of responsible research conduct as part of Murdoch University's commitment to research excellence. We enable best practices and compliance with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research 2018 by providing:

  • Advice to staff and research students on human and animal research ethics applications.
  • Administrative support to Murdoch University's Research Ethics and Animal Ethics Committees.
  • Information and education programs that raise awareness on issues of research ethics and integrity.

Your New Role!

The primary objective of this role is to provide high-quality administrative and compliance support to the Human Ethics Committees and Research Ethics & Integrity team.

Your key responsibilities will include -

  • Organising Human Ethics Committee meetings, preparing agendas, attend and minute meetings, and coordinate follow-up actions if necessary.
  • Provide advice to researchers on the requirements for completing human ethics applications, including information about the National Statement and other relevant codes and policies.
  • Provide advice on procedural matters, ethics forms, National Statement guidelines, training opportunities, and considerations for managing researcher options.
  • Liaise with the Chair on the progress on applications and monitor any outstanding issues or conditions.
  • Generate correspondence as required by the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.
  • Maintain the Human Research Ethics website.
  • Manage, maintain, and update, as required, the various ethics application forms in the electronic system (IRMA) for the management of Human Ethics.
  • Generate and collate reports on research projects, annual reports, and annual statistics in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure records are maintained in accordance with applicable standards, relevant Acts, regulations, statutes, legal demands and ethical standards as set by the University, state and federal legislation.

This Continuous | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) position attracts a remuneration of $87,000 - $94,000 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

Selection Criteria:

  • Related degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • High level administrative skills including experience in Committee servicing.
  • Ability to maintain formal records in compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to manage confidential issues in a sensitive manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of staff.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Excellent skills in organising and planning work schedules and priorities in order to meet multiple deadlines.
