About the Community Engagement Coordinator role and you
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our Customers Services team in our Metro North East (MNE) region at SGCH.
Work for purpose as a Community Engagement Coordinator and accelerate your career in placemaking. You work with social housing tenants and communities to strengthen connections and empower tenants to become involved in their local community. You will lead the planning and facilitation of community engagement events and support the operation of local tenant groups. Other activities you will support include, tenant surveys, workshops, project planning, management of social media, reporting and other engagement activities.
To succeed in this role, you are customer service focused and have exceptional interpersonal skills with a passion for working with communities.
This is a full-time permanent role. Reporting to the Lead, Connecting Communities this role is based at our Redfern office with travel to other locations as required.

Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in community services, social work or similar in relevant field and sound experience in delivering community focused outcomes for customers of diverse backgrounds and vulnerability.
A current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness and ability to travel regularly to SGCH region sites and offices.
Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including Aboriginal people.
Experience using community development tools including surveys, terms of references and event plans.
Understanding of community development fundamentals and principles of empowerment, inclusion and diversity, collaboration and participation, transparency and trust.
Understanding of social housing and the needs of tenants and applicants.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including listening with empathy.
Ability to work with a business acumen and a social heart with self-motivation, compassion and resilience to manage competing priorities, deadlines and multiple stakeholders, to continuously improve, and deliver the best outcomes for the business and customers.
