A leading organisation in the mining and resources sector is seeking an experienced accountant with a blend of financial and management accounting experience to join their Brisbane-based Finance team.

About the Role

This role combines financial reporting and management accounting responsibilities, playing a pivotal part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing critical insights to support decision-making. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting:

• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, including month-end journals and reconciliations;
• Prepare schedules in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., AASB16);
• Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements, audit documentation, and BAS returns; and
• Support compliance and reporting for government surveys and other statutory requirements.

Management Accounting:

• Conduct month-end cost reviews and variance analysis against forecasts;
• Contribute to the preparation of budgets and quarterly forecasts;
• Develop financial models and analysis to support proposals, projects, and operational decisions; and
• Collaborate with operational teams to track and manage key cost drivers.

What We’re Looking For

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent); and
• CA / CPA qualification or active progress towards certification.

About You

You are a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with the ability to balance technical expertise in financial accounting with a commercial mindset for management accounting. Your strong analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively make you a valuable business partner.
