About the role
Working as a part of the integrated multi-disciplinary team of Older Person’s Mental Health – Rapid Access Service (OPMHS-RAS). The OPMHS-RAS is a highly specialised and expert team fostering clinical excellence and transdisciplinary practice. The Senior Occupational Therapist undertakes discipline specific assessments, interventions and consultancy delivered by an in-reach service model into the aged care sector for older people living with dementia related changed behaviours and/or mental illness.
The Senior Occupational Therapist is an experienced clinician who applies their specialised expertise through the development, delivery and continuous improvement of quality clinical work and provides as required; clinical care coordination, care planning, clinical review, psychosocial assessments and Mental Health assessments, consistent with the framework of the Clinical Business Rules.
The Senior Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with consumers, their families/carers and may liaise closely with a network of government and non-government organisations to assist consumers whose severity of dementia and/or mental illness necessitate regular review and follow-up to facilitate improved functioning and community tenure.
The Senior Occupational Therapist is actively involved in clinical leadership responsibilities within the broader OPMHS Team and the disciplinary group and provides professional supervision to designated staff and students.
About You
You are a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist, driven to provide exceptional care to individuals with complex mental health needs within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Hold an appropriate degree and registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, with demonstrated expertise in mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation.
Advanced clinical skills in assessment, care planning, intervention, crisis management, and recovery-focused practice for consumers with high or complex needs.
Proven ability to lead and provide clinical supervision to peers and students, while contributing to service improvement and evidence-based practice.
In-depth knowledge of mental health legislation, service frameworks, and therapeutic approaches, with strong communication and professional judgement.
