We're currently seeking expressions of interest from locally based Tug Masters who bring capability, calm leadership, and a strong commitment to safety. If you're an experienced marine professional living in or around Geraldton, this is an opportunity to be part of a trusted crew where your local knowledge truly counts.

What You Will Do
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Taking command of the tug and managing the crew
- Coordinating crew attendance, provisioning stores, and ensuring operational readiness
- Ensuring compliance with Svitzer policies and statutory obligations, including quality assurance and ISM procedures
- Managing crew discipline and escalating issues when necessary
- Supervising and assisting with tug maintenance
- Preparing operational reports
- Conducting induction training for visitors, employees, and authorized personnel
- Leading and motivating the crew on safety management system compliance
- Participating in safety training and operational improvement exercises
- Adhering to roster arrangements and standing orders
- Engaging in skills and competency training, including training other crew members and trainees
What You Will Need to Succeed
To thrive in this position, you will demonstrate:
- Minimum Master 45m Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or higher.
- Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP) or equivalent
- Current statements of attainment in Provide First Aid and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
- A current AMSA Medical applicable to your Certificate of Competency.
- A valid MSIC or 'Job Ready' MSIC Application (or proof of ability to obtain).
- Prior experience as a Tug Master operating ASD-tugs is essential for adapting to and ensuring safe and efficient vessel operations.
- Proven ability to lead a crew effectively, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused work environment.
- A calm and focused composure during high-pressure situations and emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
- Demonstrate resilience and problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges.
- You must reside in Geraldton or the immediate surrounding area.
