About Us

Basic Rights Queensland (BRQ) provides information, advice, advocacy, and representation in relation to social security, disability discrimination, and women’s employment rights. We partner with communities and services across the state to enable people to understand their rights, access specialist support, and create a fairer Queensland.

Our Vision: Basic rights for a just society.

Our Purpose:

Providing high-quality, independent advice, legal services, and community education.

Upholding rights to social security entitlements, freedom from discrimination, and social justice for women in the workplace.

Advocating fair and just outcomes for disadvantaged people.

About the Position

As Community Access Manager, you will lead BRQ’s intake, information, and administrative support team, ensuring our services are welcoming, accessible, and responsive to the needs of all clients.

This newly created role will develop and manage a small, skilled community access team, supervising the client intake and triage process, manage administrative and data systems, and oversee improvements to enhance service quality and client experience.

You will split your time between service delivery (client intake, supervision, data oversight) and leading service improvements, including transitioning to new platforms and processes through 2025.

This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact on client access to justice while working in a supportive, values-driven environment.

About You

Strong client service skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

Experience managing intake, triage, client services, or community support teams, ideally within a legal, advocacy, or community services setting.

Excellent attention to detail, with demonstrated data management expertise and familiarity with systems such as CLASS, Actionstep, or equivalent.

Understanding of legal and jurisdictional issues to effectively guide eligibility assessments and referrals (legal qualification not required).

Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively, balancing multiple priorities and contributing to a positive and high-performing team culture.

Commitment to social justice principles, accessibility, cultural safety, and inclusive service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Manage BRQ’s Community Access Team, ensuring high-quality client intake, triage, administrative support, and referrals.

Oversee eligibility assessment, conflict checks, and urgent matter escalation processes.

Maintain accurate and compliant data entry, case file management, and reporting.

Develop and implement improvements to intake systems, triage procedures, and data management practices.

Lead the transition to updated client management systems through 2025.

Monitor service trends and use data insights to inform service improvements.

Foster an inclusive, trauma-informed approach to client engagement and service delivery.

Why Choose BRQ?

Generous Enterprise Agreement with above-award conditions including 4% above award wages, two weeks additional paid leave over Christmas/New Year, salary packaging, additional superannuation, and TOIL/flex provisions.

Brisbane city location, with some travel and outreach opportunities.

Tax-free salary sacrifice of up to $16,500 p.a.

Supportive, collaborative, and mission-driven workplace culture.

How to Apply

Please submit your current resume and a brief cover letter (no more than 2 pages) outlining your suitability and interest in the role to [email protected] by 5:00pm, Thursday 5 June 2025.
