About the Role
• Implement Councils Vegetation Protection, Environmental Significance and Heritage Overlays and Local Law Private Tree Protection for all tree related matters. These will include enquiries and referrals regarding Tree Protection Zone encroachments, multi-unit developments, tree removal requests, pruning requests and subject matter expert advice.
• Implement Council's Tree Retention Policy.
• Assist with Council's Street Tree Planting Program.
• Provide arboriculture advice to key internal stakeholders, including planning referrals for new developments.
• Actively Promote tree protection during the planning permit process by attending team meetings and engaging with individual staff on their referrals.

Skills & Experience
• Extensive experience in urban tree management and arboriculture with a Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Horticulture/ Arboriculture or equivalent work experience.
• Extensive knowledge and experience of tree protection process for both planning schemes and local laws.
• Proven ability to provide key advice for arboriculture planning referrals in a local government setting.
• A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
• This position requires a Police Check and an employee Working with Children Card.
