About the role

Do you live and breathe amazing real-life stories that make readers gasp, laugh or cry? Or sometimes all three at the same time? Are you highly organised, a stickler for deadlines and a fast copy editor who can turn any story into a brilliant first-person read in print and online? Then this is the job for you.

Take 5 is Australia's biggest-selling real-life magazine and we're looking for a Features Editor to manage our team of experienced writers, plan eye-catching and engaging content and edit sparkling copy.

This opportunity will suit someone with at least five years of experience with a media brand, plus experience writing or editing human interest features.

You will be creative, decisive, a good manager, and a problem-solver. You'll also be passionate about real-life stories from every day Australians and committed to bringing the best quality content to the homes of women around the country every week.

Duties

Planning and editing content across several magazine issues at once.

Managing a team of writers and freelancers and responding to story pitches.

Meeting and exceeding content deadlines.

Editing copy into that's life!'s unique first-person style.

Working closely with copy and picture editors and briefing designers.

Applying media law knowledge to crime content.

Liaising with marketing and advertising teams to execute client briefs.

Skills and experience

5+ years experience in media including writing or editing human interest stories. Real-life magazine experience highly desirable.

Experience managing a team.

A keen understanding of the real-life magazine audience.

Excellent news sense and strong editing abilities.

Be able to successfully juggle competing demands and deadlines.

Experience in online content and social media an advantage for the brand's omnichannel future.
