Public Sector People are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer on behalf of a State Government Department. this role, you will be responsible for processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely and accurate payments. This is a temporary opportunity for 6 months + potential extension.

Role Responsibilities and Key Duties:

As the AO3 Accounts Payable Officer you will have responsibility for the following:

• Process high volumes of invoices, including matching invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.
• Verify invoice accuracy and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
• Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure timely payments within established deadlines.
• Prepare and process vendor payments through various methods
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any outstanding issues.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.

About you:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
• Experience with an ERP system (e.g. SAP)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
