About the Role
We’re looking to hire a female support worker to assist one of our participants - a woman in her mid 30s who’s asked to be matched with someone around the same age. She’s hoping to work with someone she can connect with easily, who understands where she’s at in life, and can provide consistent, respectful support.
As a Disability Support Worker with Neighbourly, you will play a vital role in helping people with disabilities live their best lives in the Brisbane City region and surrounds.
You will provide one-on-one and community-based support, helping participants reach their goals in a way that respects their individuality and choices.
Your support will be guided by each participant's personalised support plan and by Neighbourly’s values of integrity, empathy and respect.
Key Responsibilities
Provide personal care (e.g. assistance with showering, dressing, grooming) with dignity and sensitivity
Support daily living tasks such as meal preparation, household chores and medication prompts
Assist participants to access the community (shopping, appointments, recreation, social outings)
Encourage skill-building and independence through positive, strengths-based support
Work collaboratively with participants, families, guardians and other support networks
Maintain accurate progress notes and incident reports
Identify and escalate any concerns relating to participant wellbeing or safety
Uphold privacy, confidentiality and participant rights at all times
Follow individualised support plans, risk assessments and Neighbourly policies
About You
A kind, patient and genuine person who believes everyone deserves quality care and opportunities
Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to each individual
Reliable, punctual and committed to delivering consistent support
Able to work both independently and as part of a team
Respectful of diverse backgrounds, cultures and identities
A proactive attitude to problem-solving and making a positive difference
Required
Current First Aid and CPR certificate
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
Working With Children Check (Blue Card) (or willingness to obtain)
Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
Relevant qualifications in Disability or Community Services, or willingness to complete Certificate III (desirable)
Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
At Neighbourly Community Care, being a Disability Support Worker is more than just a job. It is a chance to build real relationships, create meaningful change and grow both personally and professionally. You will support NDIS participants to live independently, stay connected and achieve their goals, while enjoying flexible work arrangements that fit your lifestyle. We pride ourselves on clear, honest communication and a supportive team culture where you are never just a number. With opportunities for ongoing learning and development, you will be valued, empowered and encouraged to build a long-term career making a difference. If you are compassionate, reliable and ready to be part of something genuinely rewarding, we would love to welcome you to Neighbourly. Check us out at www.neighbourlycc.com.au
