NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment is essential – can apply after receiving an offer, but the process can take 2 days to 2 months+, so if you apply in advance, it is advantageous (only costs $105)

The Senior Database Engineer is responsible for designing and managing the TAFE Database Systems to ensure secure access and availability to achieve optimal outcomes for business requirements. Key responsibilities include:

1. Manage the organisation’s database technology and associated schemas to ensure secure, efficient and effective access to the structured data.

2. Design, build and deploy high availability, robust, resilient and supportable database solutions to support large volumes of data transactions and optimise the end-to-end user experience.

3. Design, implement, maintain and automate the appropriate backup and recovery architecture, monitor and report on database service availability.

4. Provide Level III support to team members and escalate unresolved system issues.

5. Implement standards, procedures and guidelines.

6. Engage, influence and work collaboratively with key stakeholders

7. Place the customer at the centre of all decision making.

8. Contribute to the vision and strategic direction.

Required skills & experience:

8 years+ Senior Database Engineer experience

Must have excellent Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) knowledge and experience.

Previous experience providing architectural Oracle database SME advice.

Strong Scripting and Automation experience.

Experience in implementing and supporting database services and infrastructure in a large and complex environment.

Demonstrated database design and development skills.

Strong Database Administration (DBAD) skills and experience.

Strong Data Management (DATM) skills and experience; ensuring effective access to data and information assets whilst maintaining the requirements of security, privacy and confidentiality.

Customer Service Support (CSMG) experience.

Strong Systems Integration and Build (SINT) skills and experience.

Must have a strong "customer-centric" approach.

Must have very strong stakeholder management skills and experience - managing complex interdependencies and relationships with multiple suppliers and customers to meet targets manage deliverables and maintain integrity of service in a shifting organisational structure.

Previous Public Sector experience is advantageous

Previous Database Engineer experience within a higher educational organisation is highly advantageous.

Relevant degree and industry accreditations and certifications will be expected.
