The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is to provide clinical leadership, expert assessment and clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals regarding the management of chronic, surgical and complex wounds. In partnership with the multidisciplinary team and primary care providers, the CNC delivers a high-quality consultative wound care service across The Sutherland Hospital. The CNC acts as a clinical expert in wound care and resource person to staff, the CNC will have expertise inclusive of comprehensive wound assessments, evidence based wound care pathways and advanced wound care management and planning across the inpatient setting.
Selection Criteria:
1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Minimum five years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and post graduate qualifications relevant to the field of wound care.
2. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
3. Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
4. Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research.
5. Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural change processes.
6. Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and experience in the development of specialty education programs.
7. Demonstrated clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
8. Current NSW Drivers License (if required by service).
