Position Overview
The Factory Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our manufacturing facility. This role involves performing routine maintenance on a wide range of process machinery and plant, rapid response to breakdowns, and contributing to equipment optimisation, continuous improvement, and the installation and modification of new and existing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine preventative maintenance on a broad range of process equipment and factory infrastructure.
Provide rapid, hands-on mechanical support for unplanned equipment breakdowns, troubleshooting and resolving issues quickly to minimise production downtime.
Work closely with production and engineering teams to optimise equipment performance and overall facility efficiency.
Assist with and support continuous improvement initiatives, including upgrades, modifications, and installations of new machinery.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, and improvements.
Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with workplace health and safety standards.
Conduct out-of-hours maintenance work when necessary to minimise disruption to production.
Key Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance or mechanical technician role in a manufacturing environment.
Mechanical trade qualification (e.g. fitter, turner, or equivalent) or equivalent hands-on experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
Experience working with or an understanding of composite panel manufacturing and CNC processing is highly desirable.
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
A team player with a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
High attention to detail, quick learner, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional out-of-hours or weekend work for scheduled maintenance tasks.
Desirable Attributes
Experience with electrical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems (preferred but not essential).
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Forklift license and/or confined space entry certification (advantageous).
