About the role

As a Part-time SQW Construction Supervisor at Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc., you will be responsible for supervising and supporting young people enrolled in our SQW (Traineeships) construction training program in partnership with the Housing Industry Association (HIA). This role is essential in helping our participants develop practical skills and gain valuable work experience to improve their employability. The position is based in Arundel, QLD.

What you'll be doing

Supervise and guide participants in the completion of construction projects and tasks

Provide hands-on training and instruction to ensure participants acquire the necessary skills

Monitor participant progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development

Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to relevant health and safety regulations

Collaborate with the program lead to plan and organise construction activities

Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, performance and achievements

Assist in the evaluation and continuous improvement of the SQW construction program

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience in a construction supervision or training role

Strong practical skills and knowledge of construction techniques and processes

Previous experience delivering Skilling Queenslanders for Work Traineeships or similar would be advantageous

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with young people

Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy and a commitment to helping disadvantaged youth

Qualifications in construction, training or a related field would be highly regarded

Current construction industry safety certifications (e.g. White Card) and First Aid

Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and hold a current Blue Card

3 days per week, 20-week maximum term contract commencing June with the possibility of a second contract term commencing January 2026.
