Youturn is looking for a compassionate, highly skilled Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Specialist to join our Intensive Family Support (IFS) team. If you're passionate about supporting families, advocating for safety, and promoting long-term change, this is your opportunity to be part of a dynamic and purpose-led organisation.

About the Role

As a DFV Specialist, you'll provide expert advice and hands-on support to case managers, enhancing the safety and wellbeing of families impacted by domestic and family violence. While you won’t carry a caseload, your knowledge and leadership will shape best-practice responses through direct collaboration, coaching, and risk assessments. You’ll bring trauma-informed insight, promote the Safe & Together model, and strengthen connections with specialist DFV services across the sector.

This role includes the flexibility to undertake evening and weekend work to better meet family needs and comes with regular external clinical supervision to support your wellbeing and professional development.

What You’ll Be Doing

Advising case managers on effective DFV screening, risk assessments, and safety planning using CRASF and Safe & Together frameworks

Supporting team engagement with families where DFV is present—including survivors, children, and individuals using violence

Building strong referral pathways and collaborative relationships with specialist DFV and child protection services

Facilitating therapeutic and psychoeducational group programs where required

Contributing to a culture of learning and reflective practice within the IFS team

What You’ll Bring

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field

At least 3 years’ experience in a DFV-specific role

Deep understanding of coercive control, the impact of DFV on children and family dynamics, and trauma-informed practice

Confidence using the CRASF and Safe & Together frameworks

Ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with families experiencing complex challenges

Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012, Child Protection Act 1999)

Desirable:

Experience facilitating group programs like Caring Dads, Shark Cage, or Safe & Together Core

Strong local networks with DFV and child protection services

Cultural competence in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities

Why Work with Us?

Meaningful Work: Make a real impact in the lives of vulnerable children and families

Supportive Culture: Join a passionate, experienced team with regular external supervision

Learning & Growth: Contribute to sector innovation and develop your specialist practice

Flexibility: Work that fits with family schedules and community needs
