The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) are looking for a Voluntary Assisted Dying Care Navigator to join us in this newly created crucial role. This is your opportunity to shape the future of care for patients choosing to access Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) services within MLHD.
The role will be primarily based in Wagga Wagga but the successful applicant will be required to travel across the district when necessary.

About the role
The Voluntary Assisted Dying Care Navigator will be responsible for the support and delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate, patient centered care for patients accessing Voluntary Assisted Dying within MLHD.
You will be required to:
- Provide leadership and consultancy in the service navigation for complex cases and support community home visits in conjunction with VAD practitioners and the NSW VAD Support Services (NVSS)
- Coordinate and support patients that commence and continue through the referral and assessment process, including facilitating referrals to multidisciplinary teams or external services.
- Provide ongoing education and support to MLHD clinicians, primary care services and private entities to maintain stakeholder engagement to enable equitable access for people wishing to access VAD services.

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Previous experience working with chronic illness, palliative care and/or oncology patients
- Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to coordinate complex clinical services in conjunction with ongoing consultative support
- Impeccable communication skills to partner with a variety of stakeholders including patients and their loved ones to achieve end of life goals for patients within the service
- Solutions focused attitude with the ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse healthcare team
