Assistant Director (SME) – Technical Implementation and Operations – Canberra Script (RTPM) - Pharmaceutical Services Section
The Pharmaceutical Services Section has both statutory and non-statutory responsibilities to promote the safe use of medicines within the ACT community. These responsibilities are outlined under the Medicines, Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 2008 and the Public Health Act 1997. The section regulates the prescribing and supply of controlled medicines in the ACT to minimise the risks associated with their abuse, misuse, and diversion. This includes assessing applications from prescribers for approval to prescribe controlled medicines and monitoring supplies from pharmacies.
Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of the Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) project, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) Assistant Director – Technical Implementation and Operations – Canberra Script (Real-Time Prescription Monitoring) will provide high-level subject matter expertise to the development and improvement of the Canberra Script RTPM project. The role involves managing operational changes to ensure a smooth transition of tasks from the Canberra Script project to business operations. The SME will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including teams across ACTHD, the software vendor, other jurisdictions, and the Commonwealth, and will develop project documentation. The SME must have strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to follow procedures, and confidence in working within a high-performing team.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in understanding business processes and requirements analysis within a large and complex service industry organization, with a strong background in IT or Enterprise Service Management.
- Formal qualifications in a health-related field, such as a Certificate III or IV in hospital or community pharmacy services, or equivalent, and/or formal qualifications in a technology-related field are highly desirable.
- Prior to commencement, successful candidates may be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Current driver’s licence.
Note: This is a temporary position available 2 July 2025 until 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension. This position will be filled at either the SOGC or PHM4 level, dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
