Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 690,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation of people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

We are seeking HR professionals at the Executive Level 1 classification level with strong leadership skills and an obsession for excellent customer service to join our dynamic People Support and Integrity Branch as an Assistant Director in our Workplace Integrity team.

As an Executive Level 1 within the People, Culture and Wellbeing Division, you will provide sound technical and strategic HR advice to your director and business areas across the Agency to support emerging workforce requirements. You will manage connected, efficient and effective HR services, coordinate Agency wide initiatives, and grow capabilities to ensure a consistent experience for managers and staff across the NDIA nationwide.

Focused on continuous improvement, you will collaborate with colleagues and teams across the Agency to ensure that our workforce understand their roles, responsibilities, and expectations, and how they contribute to the safety and wellbeing of others. You will play an important role in leading engagement and championing inclusion, enabling our people to thrive and bring their best selves to work each day.

The EL1 Assistant Director Workplace Integrity is a team membership position within the NDIA and requires the ability to resolve issues and risks across a broad range of activities of substantial depth and significant detail. The role provides support to the team leadership of their work area in the planning and coordination of the team.

Where you can add value

The EL1 Assistant Director Workplace Integrity is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and where required will represent and negotiate on behalf of the NDIA to advance the NDIA’s interests across a range of forums.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Anticipating stakeholder needs, managing expectations, and providing expert advice on complex workforce issues with integrity and professionalism.
  • Researching, interpreting, and applying an extensive knowledge of the APS HR legislation and policies and NDIA's Enterprise Agreement and related HR policies to provide advice, support and management relating to complex people matters.
  • Undertaking risk evaluation processes to make decisions, with limited direction, on the appropriate course of action to address very complex people matters in often challenging environments with multiple impacts.
  • Undertaking Code of Conduct investigations and case management in accordance with the Public Service Act 1999 (PS Act).
  • Conducting primary Reviews of Action and case managing secondary Reviews of Action under Section 33 of the PS Act.
  • Undertaking case management of external jurisdiction matters in collaboration with the Agency Legal Services Branch.
  • Reviewing, analysing, and managing NDIA policies owned by the team and actively contributing to other HR policy reviews.
  • Assessing, reporting, and analysing case metrics to provide the executive with meaningful, accurate and timely data in order to anticipate issues and organisational risk, inform decisions and steer the direction of people management in the NDIA.
  • Leading improvement projects, assessing their impact on strategic or operational outcomes, and managing change.
  • Effectively managing competing priorities, overseeing workflows, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of services.

In line with the values and mission of the NDIA, you will have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability, along with understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals. This role will provide you with opportunities to make a real difference in the lives of people with a disability and contribute to the success of the NDIA for generations to come.

A background in leadership within a government or large corporate sector environment will stand you in good stead for this challenging role. A Certificate IV in Government Investigations or other equivalent qualifications. would be well regarded.

While this role is ideally performed from Deakin - ACT, Geelong - VIC, Brisbane - QLD, Robina - QLD, Newcastle -NSW, Adelaide - SA, Richmond – VIC remote working arrangements may be considered.? We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
