Iconic SA Government looking for a UX Designer to work on a system modernization to AWS cloud.

Our client is a great South Australian State Government utilities provider, and they are on the hunt for an UX Designer to help with their systems modernization into AWS cloud.

• 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week for 6 months with a further 6 months extension based on performance.
• Adelaide CBD location.
• Adelaide based candidates only. This role requires the candidate to be in the office 3 days a week.
• $65 to $100 per hour base plus 11.5% superannuation on an hourly rate contract, 37.5 hours (25% casual loading included). The rate of pay will be defined based on skills, experience and expertise in UX Design experience in systems modernization to cloud, especially if this is within AWS cloud.
• State Government Agencies Award 2020 industry award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances and superannuation.
• All applicable award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances and superannuation for this role.
• National police check required.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented UX Designer to join our cloud modernization initiative. This role is ideal for someone passionate about creating intuitive, user-centered designs that enhance the usability and accessibility of cloud-based platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and cloud architects to modernize legacy systems and deliver seamless digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of user interfaces for cloud-based applications, ensuring a consistent and engaging user experience.
• Translate complex workflows into intuitive wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
• Collaborate with developers to implement responsive and accessible designs using HTML and CSS.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews to inform design decisions.
• Create and maintain design systems and documentation to support scalable design practices.
• Advocate for UX best practices and accessibility standards throughout the development lifecycle.
• Iterate on designs based on feedback, analytics, and evolving project requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in UX design, preferably in cloud or enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in Figma for wireframing, prototyping, and design system management. Other platforms also ok.
• Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS, with the ability to collaborate effectively with front-end developers.
• Experience designing for responsive and mobile-first web applications.
• Solid understanding of user-centred design principles and accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or modernization projects.
• Familiarity with JavaScript or front-end frameworks is a plus.
• Background in agile development environments.
