Our participants, Our people, Our purpose

Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is seeking the ideal candidates to fill vacancies in the Participant Safeguarding Initiative within the Policy and Practice Leadership Division.

The Initiative has been established to develop and implement an enhanced participant risk and safeguarding approach for the Agency. The initiative scope responds to the NDIS Review recommendations, findings from the Disability Royal Commission and implementation of the NDIA’s Participant Safeguarding Policy?

The Initiative works closely with reform initiatives and branches across the NDIA to develop evidence-based policy that is informed by people with lived experience of disability, expert service designers, operational considerations and relevant legal frameworks.

As an APS6 Policy Officer you will contribute to complex policy work that is guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents, under limited direction.

The position is required to provide detailed policy analysis and advice in relation to complex issues and opportunities in the NDIA. You will be required to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Branch.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing written and verbal policy analysis and advice on complex matters for senior executives and the Minister.

(NOTE: the key responsibilities of the role are based on current priorities and may change over time)
