The Role

As our Senior Building Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Assessing levels of fire safety and compliance with building regulations and requirements for all classes of proposed and existing buildings (within level of accreditation with NSW Fair Trading), having regards to the provisions of the Building Code of Australia and issue building and fire safety upgrading notices and orders.
  • Assessing and determining Construction, Complying Development, and Occupation Certificates
  • Conducting inspections of buildings, swimming pools, and essential fire safety measures
  • Investigating building compliance issues, unauthorised works, and breaches of codes/regulations
  • Issuing Notices and Orders (including fire safety).
  • Providing clear, accurate technical advice to developers, builders, and the community

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Registration with NSW Fair Trading as a Building Surveyor – Restricted (All Classes) (formerly A2 at a minimum).
  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fire safety compliance and building certification, assessment, and inspection.
  • Proven ability to act as a Principal Certifier.
  • Sound knowledge of legislation relating to development and building control, with particular regard to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulations, the Local Government Act 1993 and Regulations and the Building Code of Australia.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and customer service skills

  • Class C Driver’s Licence
