About the role
This is a teaching-focussed Clinical Preceptor role within the School of Rural Medicine, teaching into the Joint Medical Program curriculum at the Tablelands Clinical School in Armidale. Specifically, this role entails: regular preparation and delivery of tutorials to medical students, including but not limited to: case based learning, clinical skills, communication skills as they relate to the Discipline of Paediatrics. It would be advantageous to have a clinical or honorary appointment at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital in order to facilitate student learning in the clinical environment.
The role will actively contribute to the development and implementation of clinical content within the medical curriculum. The role will actively contribute to assessment, including but not limited to assessing students, writing assessment items, standard setting assessment items, assignment marking, provision of feedback and remediation to students.
The role may include other teaching sessions including forums and lectures in an area of expertise as negotiated with the course coordinator. The role will take an active lead in mentoring the professional development of medical students on their clinical rotations.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
A significant contribution to the development and coordination of teaching and related activities within medicine and/or health fields;
An established record of achievement in teaching with a positive trajectory or consistently strong teaching evaluations, positive student feedback, student performance and/or peer review;
Course Coordination or equivalent health service leadership;
Proactive development and design of curricula;
Involvement in reflection, review and continuous improvement of curricula, teaching resources and teaching approaches;
Application to teaching practice of new ideas in the discipline of medicine and/or health; and
An active role within the discipline in mentoring and fostering the development of teaching skills and scholarship within teaching staff in the field of medicine and/or health.
