The role
Cerulea is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Clinical Research Coordinator’s to join our Clinical Trials Research Centre. This role is integral to the successful management and execution of clinical trials and research projects, both Sponsored and Investigator initiated, focused on exploring treatments for a diverse array of ocular conditions.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and manage clinical trial activities from initiation through to close-out, ensuring timelines and milestones are met
- Coordinate designated clinical trials, including meeting Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC), Research Governance Office (RGO) and Sponsor requirements
- Conduct patient assessments as required by protocols, including subjective refractions, best corrected visual acuity, intraocular pressure, optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans, colour fundus photographs, perimetry and measurement of vital signs and other assessments that may as required by trial protocol.
- Track and report on trial budgets, including invoicing for payments as necessary.
- Assist other Cerulea staff in conducting and coordinating Sponsored clinical trials and Investigator Initiated research projects.
- Collect and prepare human samples (blood, urine and skin) with provided training.
- Assist in patient identification, recruitment and scheduling of trials/appointments.
- Collect and enter study data onto hard copy and/or electronic Case Report Forms in accordance with protocol requirements in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with study investigators, sponsors, contract research organisations (CROs), and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure all trial activities are conducted in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), institutional policies, ethical guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Your skills and experience
- Tertiary qualification in Orthoptics/Optometry and registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board/AHPRA (highly regarded)
- Extensive experience in the field of clinical research, particularly in managing and coordinating clinical trials, adhering to regulatory requirements, and ensuring high-quality patient care and data management
- High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive professional relationships and communicate effectively with various stakeholders
- Proven ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with a wide range of patients, ensuring effective and compassionate communication and care
- Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work under pressure to ensure efficient and effective service delivery while remaining flexible and focused
- A solutions-oriented approach with a commitment to working collaboratively with others and fostering a supportive team environment.
