About – Indigenous Partnerships Team
The purpose of the Indigenous Partnerships Team is:

  • to further the University’s academic mission through strategic and focussed place partnership initiatives.
  • to serve the community within and beyond our campuses by harnessing the University’s convening power and academic expertise for purposeful partnerships, outcomes and impact locally and globally.
  • to support transformative and mutually beneficial outcomes through connected, inter-disciplinary and multi-sector partnerships initiatives that cultivate relationships, enable two-way learning and leverage our education and research capabilities and endeavours.
  • work closely with the DVC Indigenous and the Indigenous leadership of the University in embedding Indigenous knowledge, participation and collaboration through our partnership activities.

The Indigenous Partnerships Team sits within Chancellery, as part of the Office of the Provost within The University of Melbourne.

About the Role
As a Senior Partnerships Broker, you'll play a crucial role in fostering strategic Indigenous partnerships across key regions. You'll have the opportunity to build and sustain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, contributing to the University's Indigenous engagement goals. Your work will directly impact Aboriginal self-determination, enabling two-way knowledge exchange and co-creation of meaningful outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Broker Strategic Partnerships: Support leadership in developing and maintaining key Indigenous community relationships and partnerships.
  • Collaborate on Co-Design: Work with Indigenous communities and stakeholders to co-create and implement strategic action plans for partnerships and programs.
  • Manage Complex Projects: Oversee partnership initiatives, prepare high-quality documents, and coordinate governance groups and forums.
  • Drive Communication and Visibility: Develop communications to enhance the profile and impact of community partnerships and initiatives.

About You
You are a professional with extensive experience in building and managing strategic partnerships, demonstrating a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • Have strong cultural competence and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate expertise in project and program management, with a focus on co-creation and co-design.
  • Have experience working across urban, regional, and remote Indigenous contexts.
  • Excel in preparing compelling documents and managing complex partnerships.
  • Show a proven ability to navigate ambiguity and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
