A bit about the role
You will develop and implement urban design policies, strategies, and frameworks to enhance the City of Casey’s liveability. You will be working with a high-performing and collaborative team to improve the City of Casey’s design quality, and overall image. You will also be developing and promoting the Casey Design Excellence Program.
This role will provide comprehensive response to planning referrals on urban design and architectural issues. You will also provide expert advice and advocate for high-quality urban design, ensuring best practices and design standards are met.
What you’ll deliver
- Lead the creation and implementation of urban design frameworks, masterplans, and public realm strategies.
- Develop and apply character guidelines; contribute to land use, mobility, and structure plan reviews.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive effective community-focused design outcomes.
- Lead design and delivery of streetscapes, public plazas, gateways, and pedestrian enhancements in activity areas.
- Provide design feedback for council projects, collaborating across teams to create strategic, actionable plans.
- Negotiate with developers and seek government funding to support urban design initiatives and civic improvements.
- Manage project budgets and timelines against corporate requirements and commitments.
- Lead discussions on design excellence and advocate for improved design strategies within the organisation.
- Address design inquiries and advocate for alternative design solutions with various stakeholders.
- Manage expert advice, review urban design and architectural matters, and engage with developers in pre-application meetings
What you’ll bring
- Must hold a Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or Urban Design
- A proficient level of experience working in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products and other industry software applications
- such as AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro, Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check & Eligibility to Work check
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
