Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Floor Finisher to join our team in Queensland. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in floor preparation, installation, sanding, and finishing, along with the ability to interpret flooring plans and work independently or as part of a team. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail will contribute significantly to the aesthetic and functional quality of our flooring projects.

Key Responsibilities

Measure floor areas and review plans or specifications to estimate the type and quantity of materials required.

Prepare surfaces by cleaning and smoothing them and remove baseboard trims when necessary.

Measure, cut, and fix underlay materials to ensure proper insulation and surface readiness.

Lay various floor coverings including carpets, linoleum, parquetry blocks, cork tiles, and other resilient materials.

Accurately match patterns and cut flooring to fit around fixtures, walls, and corners, ensuring a precise and seamless fit.

Secure floor coverings and install edge trims in doorways and transitional areas.

Sand, stain, and apply protective coatings to timber floors to enhance their durability and aesthetic finish.

May install related coverings on walls, ceilings, counters, and benches where required.

Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Experience & Qualifications

AQF Certificate III in Floor Finishing and Covering, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV.

At least 1 year of experience in floor finishing, preferably in both domestic and commercial environments.

Proven ability to read plans and accurately estimate materials and time.

Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
