About the Opportunity
We are excited to announce the opening for a Senior Administrative Officer - Clerk Grade 7/8 position within our Legal Operations team in the Legal Services Directorate at the NSW Department of Education. The Legal Operations team works closely with the Legal Practice Manager and specialised legal teams within the Legal Services Directorate to deliver support, advice and essential services to NSW Schools.

About the role
The Senior Administrative Officer provides administrative and clerical support to the Legal Practice Manager, as well as Legal Officers and other staff within Legal Services Directorate. The successful candidate will:
- Have relevant experience in administrative service provision and previous experience in staff management and strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Coordinate the collection of financial expenditure data from the Directorate's teams to assist with the preparation of annual operational budgets and monthly financial reports
- Prepare and deliver training material to develop staff capabilities in using the Departments management systems and technology applications in alignment with organisational commitment to continuous improvement
- Have excellent problem-solving ability and the ability to translate business objectives into business processes and technology solutions
- Have extensive experience developing process documentation including workflow diagrams, work instructions and procedures.
- Have excellent communication skills, user focus and the ability to influence at all levels.
- Be highly organised with the ability to tackle multiple competing priorities.
- Be IT competent and strong with MS Office/Excel and Database administration skills.
- Demonstrate initiative, organisational and planning skills with ability to manage responsibilities within required timeframes both self-directed and within a team.
Key responsibilities
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure seamless staff transitions while maintaining compliance with departmental protocols.
- Develop and deliver training materials to enhance staff proficiency in departmental management systems and technology applications, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for the creation, editing, and ongoing maintenance of NSW Department of Education Legal Services webpages for both internal and external audiences, ensuring content is accurate, accessible, and compliant with departmental standards and business unit requirements.
- Strong knowledge in SharePoint and LEX, including platform maintenance and ensuring information and documents are securely managed, opened and filed in line with departmental guidelines.

Essential requirements of the role
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Strong technical experience using software applications such as LEX for File Management, SharePoint, SAP, EWMS, Success Factors and Content Manager.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), webpage editing and previous experience in Acquia Optimize.
Key knowledge and experience
- Knowledge and experience in the relevant area/s of law impacting on the NSW Department of Education, with the ability to provide targeted, high-quality administrative assistance.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
