Are you an Early Childhood Teacher looking for flexibility without compromising on team connection and professional value?
At The Little Unicorn, we believe you can have both.
Join a centre where your skills are celebrated, your growth is supported, and your wellbeing truly matters.
About Us
The Little Unicorn is a family-owned and operated Early Education & Care centre, proudly supporting families across the Newcastle region since 1993. With over three decades of experience, we are committed to delivering high-quality early childhood education in a warm, inclusive, and community-focused environment.
Our teaching philosophy is grounded in play-based learning, where children learn best through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Play is more than fun — it’s essential for developing cognitive skills, emotional resilience, social understanding, and creativity.
We embrace the principles of loose parts play, encouraging open-ended discovery using natural and repurposed materials. This approach nurtures imagination, critical thinking, and independence — helping children develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Our centres are designed to feel like home, with calm and welcoming environments that promote a strong sense of safety and belonging. When children feel emotionally secure, they are more confident to explore, connect, and learn.
We are deeply committed to fostering genuine partnerships with families, maintaining strong community connections, and cultivating a workplace where every educator is valued, heard, and supported. When you join The Little Unicorn, you become part of a passionate, tight-knit team that shares your dedication to early learning.
The Opportunity
Due to increasing enrolments at our Charlestown centre, we are seeking a passionate and committed Early Childhood Teacher to join our team.
This position is based in our 4–5 year age group room, where you will play a key role in supporting children as they develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need for their transition to school. You’ll facilitate rich learning experiences through a balance of play-based inquiry, school-readiness activities, and intentional teaching.
You’ll work collaboratively with other qualified educators, sharing responsibilities for programming, planning, and documentation, and contributing to a room culture that values curiosity, creativity, and respect.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a service that values your expertise and offers clear pathways for professional growth, including opportunities to move into leadership or management roles.
