About the Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the City’s Financial Services team as a Finance Officer – Expenditure.

The Finance Officer-Expenditure assists with all aspects of financial accounting including:

  • Processing creditor transactions (invoices, credit notes, etc.)
  • Responding to internal and external queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Processing general ledger, monthly creditor reconciliations and, maintain subsidiary ledgers
  • Assisting with end-of-month and end-of-financial year, including preparation of council meeting and Taxable Payment Annual Report (TPAR) reporting
  • Monitoring control and suspense accounts
  • Tracking prepayment balances
  • Performing administrative tasks related to transaction and journal processing
  • Maintaining creditor master files in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Undertaking ad-hoc duties and assisting with audits as required

This is a fixed term, part-time (0.8 FTE) position until 31 October 2025.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is committed to delivering excellent customer service and demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess excellent time management abilities with a keen attention to detail. They should be able to work autonomously as well as collaborate effectively within a team, managing a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.

Previous experience in an accounts payable role is required along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Applicants with a tertiary qualification in accounting or similar will be viewed favourably. Experience with Technology One is also considered advantageous.
