ABOUT US:
Australian Veteran Health Services is a unique, multi-disciplinary medical service designed to assist former and current Defence personnel plan their transition from military to civilian life. Established by Veterans for Veterans, we aim to complement established medical and ex-service organisations by assisting with DVA Claims, Permanent Impairment Assessments, Veteran Review Board (VRB) reports and ADF Transition Medicals.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Senior Accountant at AVHS, you will be at the forefront of our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. Your responsibilities will include overseeing financial reporting, managing audits, and leading a team of finance professionals. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our mission of providing exceptional healthcare services to veterans and their families by ensuring financial sustainability and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
ABOUT YOU:
With a strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and tax legislation, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a CPA qualified Accountant. You will be comfortable leading the team and driving success. With strong attention to detail and analytical skills, you’ll have advanced excel skills. This role is designed to strengthen financial outcomes, mentor junior team members, and support the implementation of key quality improvement activities and compliance. High-level stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as we have many moving parts in delivering financial support to the business.

Selection Criteria
You hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a CA or CPA qualification.
You are proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
Ability to work autonomously and make decisions under pressure.
You are detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to excellence.
Desirable
Ideally, you have experience in the healthcare or government-funded services sector and are familiar with the DVA provider portal.
Experience in veteran health or military-related services.
