The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) Licenses more than 120,000 refrigeration and air conditioning technicians and businesses around Australia for the safe handling of refrigerant gases to minimise their contribution to global warming. With its head office in Melbourne and regional offices around Australia, ARC works under contract to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) licensing businesses and individuals working with environmentally damaging gasses under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989 and Regulations 1995.
In addition to issuing Refrigerant Handling Licences and Refrigerant Trading Authorisations to the Businesses that employ them, ARC delivers compliance and education services to the refrigeration and air conditioning industries in both the Stationary (building) and automotive sectors.
About the role
Field Officers play a vital part in delivering ARC's Compliance and education services, and in supporting and advising the licence and authorisation holders. The Field officer's main role is to undertake Permit Condition Checks and Education Visits, along with reporting activities in accordance with the Relevant Acts/Regulations and Policies.
The role will involve travel the home-state from time to time. Occasional travel may be required in other States.

Please note, a 6-month probation period applies to this position. Applicants must be residing in Australia with Australian Residency. The ARC encourages applications from people with indigenous backgrounds.
Selection criteria
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of:
Strong ethical behaviour, including experience in setting boundaries and working within a compliance environment
Ability to work independently, in a team and to meet performance targets
Excellent communication skills with strong oral communication and writing capability
A positive 'Can-do' attitude
Evidence and examples of situations where the applicant has identified situations where issues required escalation to the next level of management for decision-making
High-level problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to make constructive and positive recommendations to ARC’s clients to promote compliance within legislative requirements
Previous and/or current reports written by the applicant
Computer literacy with ability to adapt to ARC’s automated environment
Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable but not essential
Having undertaken further studies and a capacity to undertake further study if necessary
It would be an advantage to hold a Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance), but if not, training will be provided to successful applicants.
It is also desirable for the applicant to be a competent Refrigeration Mechanic holding the appropriate ARC License.
