Senior Mental Health Clinician, headspace Bondi Junction – Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service

An exciting professional development opportunity exists for an experienced clinician to act in the Mental Health Clinician role at headspace, Bondi Junction within the Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service.
This role delivers structured low or medium intensity psychological intervention to individuals & groups of young people experiencing a diagnosable mild, moderate or in some cases severe mental illness. This includes young people who have attempted suicide or self-harm where access to other services is not available or appropriate.
Focus of the Psychological Support Services (PSS) is on:
- Young people who have attempted, or are at risk of, suicide or self-harm
- Underserviced young people such as Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islanders, Culturally & Linguistically Diverse and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Questioning and those at risk of homelessness
- In some cases, young people with severe mental illness may benefit from short term, focused psychological interventions as part of their overall care.
This position reports to the Clinical Lead and is supported by the Professional Head.

Selection criteria:
- Social Worker or Occupational Therapist qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award Current full registration with AHPRA and/or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer; Psychologists with a recognised four-year degree in Psychology and registration with AHPRA; Clinical Psychologists also require endorsement in clinical psychology (or eligibility to progress towards same), along with an accredited minimum two-year full time equivalent Masters degree or higher in Clinical Psychology.
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience working therapeutically (individually & in groups) with young people and their families.
- Experience in providing mental health assessments and identifying and managing risk with young people & families.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making & advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, education & support to others in providing service excellence
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills & independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
- Experience in planning, implementation and reporting on quality improvement projects in support of clinical service development.
- NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel in accordance with demands of the position.
