About the Role:
This position leads a team of solution engineers to support and enhance the University’s Student Management System through the use of reporting tools, programming languages, and technical solutions. The Technical Lead is responsible for driving continuous improvement, implementing new functionality, and ensuring high standards and best practices are maintained across all team activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and mentor a team of solution engineers.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, processes, and best practices.
- Collaborate with SBSS Leadership to prioritise high-value, strategic projects.
- Oversee, review, and approve solution designs and development.
- Ensure alignment with technical architecture and governance frameworks.
- Strengthen cross-functional relationships, particularly with DTS teams.
- Promote continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and exploration of new functionality.
- Maintain team capability through knowledge retention and up-to-date documentation.
- Manage timely delivery of technical solutions in line with design principles.
- Support system integrations and provide expert advice on technical matters.
- Coordinate upgrades, maintenance, and support of Student Management Systems.
- Foster a positive team culture through coaching and support.
- Represent SBSS at committees and working groups as required.
- Act on behalf of the Manager or Director during absences when delegated.
- Perform other duties aligned with the role’s responsibilities.

- A demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams in a complex, enterprise system environment.
- Demonstrated problem solving experience in reviewing and analysing technical processes, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated commitment to implementing best standards and practices.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to improving and upskilling team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional/agile teams
- Demonstrated well developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally across all levels of an organisation
- Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
