Position overview
The Graduate Building Surveyor is responsible for supporting the provision of expert technical advice in the delivery of State Building Surveyor functions, focussing on Council support and advice, guidance, training and education to registered building practitioners.
This role will contribute to the continuous improvement of building standards and compliance in Victoria through the provision of advice, guidance, training education material.
The role may also assist in the assessment of occupancy permits for prescribed temporary structures and places of public entertainment.
What we are looking for:
- Completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level 6 qualification in building surveying, or within 12 months of completing an AQF 7 or 8 qualification in building surveying.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, National Construction Code and Australian Standards.
- Demonstrated understanding of construction terminology and practices.
- A detail-oriented individual who observes the finer details, identifies gaps in information; looks for logical sequences of information; highlights practical considerations of plans and activities.
- Someone who listens to customers; actively seeks to meet customer needs; seeks ways to improve services; committed to delivering high quality outcomes for clients.
