Make a Lasting Impact as a Residential Care Officer for complex medical clients in their home

Do you want to be part of a team that truly changes lives? We’re looking for compassionate and

committed individuals to join us as Residential Care Officers, where you’ll play a key role in

supporting children and young adults with complex needs. You’ll help them

build essential life skills, strengthen relationships, and thrive in a stable, supportive, and

therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Consult patients; needs and difficulty in order to design supporting programs based on

available facilities and resources of the group housing.

2. Assist with daily routines including personal care, meals, and hygiene, tailored to individual

preferences and needs.

3. Provide patients daily assistance with their activities of daily living.

4. Plan and engage in meaningful social, recreational, and educational activities within the

home

5. Adhere to personalized care plans and accurately record relevant interactions and

observations and report changes and or progress to a multidisciplinary specialists.

6. Build positive, respectful relationships with individuals in care, showing empathy in a non-

judgmental and supportive manner

7. Foster a safe, stable, and emotionally supportive living environment

8. Understand and help patients follow strict infection control policies.

 A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people and contributing to their well-

being and development

 Strong communication and interpersonal skills

 Compassionate, empathetic, and reliable, with a positive and flexible attitude

 High attention to detail, confidentiality, and integrity in all aspects of work

 Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

 Previous experience in a residential or care setting is highly desirable

Essential Requirements:

 Relevant qualifications or experience in youth work, social work, or a related field

 Ability to maintain professional boundaries and manage challenging situations calmly

 Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Workers with the following certificates and training would be encouraged to apply. These skillsa re essential to the role:

PEG/J

Seizure management

High level of complex hoisting experience

High BOC - autism, CP, repetitive behaviors, aggression

At least 4 years experience working with participants of high complex needs

Catheter management

OTHER CRITERIA :

Already sound knowledge in high intensity skills

Female only (client preference)

Live within 25 minutes of Kilsyth

Enjoy chatting and engaging with participants particularly those with intellectual disabilities

Competent with all areas of self care including with showering and toileting

Have a car

Have loads of common sense and be autonomous; use self initiative

VERY RELIABLE

We are looking for an immediate start in multiple locations.

You must have;

Valid Australian Driver’s License

Valid CPR Certificate

Proof of rights to work in Australia

NDIS Worker Screener Check

WWCC

The successful candidate will have:

+4-year experience as a support worker or residential care officer

Strong experience with manual handling techniques

Exceptional critical thinking and ability to act in medically pressured situations

Ability to connect with the client and his family
