ABOUT THE ROLE

Drive excellence—train Army personnel on advanced vehicles at Lavarack Barracks with a top-tier, nationally respected provider.

As a Military Driver Trainer based at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, you’ll deliver high-quality instruction to Australian Army personnel on vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and 40M trucks. Working within Wodonga TAFE’s respected training framework, you’ll provide hands-on, safety-focused training aligned with AQTF standards.

This role suits experienced mentors passionate about technical instruction and skill development in high-stakes environments. You'll help prepare Defence personnel to safely and effectively operate military vehicles—contributing to both individual training outcomes and broader Defence capability.

Selected Duties:

Set up training facilities, equipment, and vehicles on-site or at client locations.

Assist with assessments, ensuring compliance with rules and clear learner guidance.

Gather and submit learner feedback within one working day.

Identify and report training issues to the Business/Contract Manager.

Support use of training tech, including simulators and PDAs, under supervision.

Commitment to completion of TAEASS412 and other requirements of the Assistant Driving Instructors course.

Full Australian Driver’s License.

Must be able to undertake a pre-employment medical.

Must be an Australian Citizen to be able to gain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance

Desirable: Transport industry experience.

Desirable: Medium/ Heavy Rigid Licence.
