About the role
As Senior Biosecurity Inspector (Invasive Species), you’ll play an important role in ensuring weeds and pest animals do not adversely impact Tasmania’s biodiversity, agriculture, community, or economy.
- Investigate potential breaches of legislation and/or biosecurity risks.
- Engage with the public, landholders, and managers to find solutions and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Plan and coordinate regional eradication programs for new and emerging weeds and pest animals.
- Lead local activities during an emergency response as required.
- Contribute to developing and implementing Local/Regional/State and National weed and vertebrate pest management plans and programs.
Our ideal candidate has
- Knowledge of weed and vertebrate pest taxonomy, ecology, and management.
- Understanding of Tasmanian legislation and regulation relating to weeds and vertebrate pests.
- Capacity to work autonomously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience conducting investigations.
