Position Overview
The Australian National University (ANU) Counselling is seeking people with the following qualifications to join our team of counsellors: Registered or Clinical Psychologists, Accredited Mental Health Social Workers, Accredited Mental Health Occupational Therapists, Credentialed Mental Health Nurses or Masters-qualified Counsellors with Level 4 ACA Membership to join our team of Counsellors. The position primarily entails the provision of individual counselling to students. It requires professional expertise in psychological counselling practices and young adult mental health. An understanding of a broad range of personal, psychological, life stage, cultural and study related issues and the ability to adopt appropriate counselling frameworks is essential for this position.
The Counsellor position reports to a Senior Counsellor. The core work of a Counsellor is the provision of counselling services to students. You will also develop and present specialist group programs, workshops and seminars and participate in projects that contribute to the professional practice of the centre. In addition, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide advice and support to the ANU community on matters relating to students who are distressed and/or acutely unwell. You will work within a large multidisciplinary Health and Wellbeing Service that comprises Clinical Intake, Student Safety and Wellbeing, Accessibility and the Medical Centre.
