New Heaven Indian Restaurant (DO Investment (SA) Pty Ltd) is looking for a skilled cook.

Key Responsibilities

· Opening kitchen, assisting chef with daily operations within the kitchen and closing the kitchen after closing hours.

· Set up and prepare workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.

· Prepping ingredients including vegetables and trimming meats as required.

· Preparing dishes as per the customers requirement and meet any special dietary requests.

· Prepare, cook, garnish and present food for service.

· Assist the chef in executing innovative menus, estimating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies.

· Supervise and coordinate other workers and kitchen hands engaged in food preparation.

· Rotating old and new stock.

· Stock control and minimizing food wastage by signing off on orders ensuring freshness of food & ingredients.

· Proper handling of electrical equipment used such as the mixer, microwave, grinder, oven, food processors, refrigerator, freezer etc and adjust temperature as per the cooking/food requirements.

· Ensure all food and other items are stored properly, with appropriate temperatures maintained and recorded.

· Following procedures in relation to food handling, sanitation, personal and general hygiene, and standard hygiene control in the hospitality industry.

· Adhering to occupation health and safety procedures.

You must have:

· At least a certificate III level or equivalent relevant qualification.

· Recent 3 years of full-time experience working as a cook.

· Experience with Indian cuisine is preferred

· Ability to work independently and without supervision.

· Ability to work effectively as part of team and provide leadership to a small team.

· Ability to problem solve and have critical thinking skills.

· Good oral communication skills.
