Our Organisation

Behaviour Support & Training provides services for people aged 8-65 years who use harmful or stigmatizing behaviours that impede their quality of life. Many of our clients have intellectual disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. We enhance understanding of why harmful and stigmatising behaviours occur and lead the development and implementation of interventions to better address our clients’ underlying needs. We contribute to training and research in Positive Behaviour Support and aim to be leaders in this field.

Position Purpose

· The Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner will provide behaviour support services and internal professional supervision for the Employer. You will have various duties and responsibilities. Line management of Behaviour Support and Training staff may be a responsibility required of you in the future, although this will not form part of the initial role.

Your Attributes

· Expertise in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). You will have demonstrated knowledge and application of evidence-based behaviour support strategies, including conducting complex functional behaviour assessments, developing and overseeing implementation of intervention, and ensuring they align with legislative and ethical guidelines. You will be able to demonstrate capability within the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework at a Proficient level, or higher

· Leadership and mentoring skills. You will have previous experience providing professional supervision and coaching to entry level practitioners to contribute to service improvement.

· Growth Mindset. You embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and pursue ongoing professional development. You will foster a learning culture within the organization.

Main Tasks

· Undertake comprehensive behavioural assessments and develop individualised evidence-based intervention plans for clients.

· Deliver intervention programs in pursuit of clients’ goals, including psychological therapies.

· Complete assessments of disability support needs.

· Monitor, evaluate and review individual intervention plans and programs against clients’ goals.

· Liaise with complex stakeholder groups and collaborate with external health practitioners. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.

· Write clinical reports and keep appropriate clinical records.

· Provide advice to clients and stakeholders about Restrictive Practices in accordance with the Disability Services Act 2006 and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support) Rules 2018.

· Participate in individual or group supervision on a monthly basis, and contribute to peer consultations as requested.

· Deliver services in clients’ homes, community settings, and in the Behaviour Support and Training suites.

· Practice within the NDIS Practice Standards, and provide services within the parameters of individual client’s Service Agreement established between the client and Behaviour Support and Training.

· Provision of individual clinical supervision to less experienced practitioners

· Development and delivery of training programs

· Contribute to a fun, supportive, and innovative workplace.

Other duties

· Contribute to the quarterly team meeting agenda, as required

· Identify professional development opportunities for employees

· Assist Directors with recruitment and performance development of other staff

· Act on behalf of the Directors, as invited.
