An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced procurement professional to join the Procurement team for the NSW State Emergency Service (SES), supporting the Equipment Portfolio.

About the opportunity

The Coordinator Procurement is a senior member of the Procurement team, responsible for the effective procurement and administration within the Equipment Portfolio, including:

Procurement Planning & Documentation: Prepare and review procurement-related documents, validate stakeholder needs, analyse markets and assess risks to inform planning and sourcing.

Sourcing & Negotiation: Conduct sourcing activities in line with policies, lead negotiations, and establish/review supply arrangements for value-for-money outcomes.

Contract Management: Develop and execute contract management plans, monitor performance, resolve issues, and negotiate variations through supplier relationships.

Advisory & Governance: Provide procurement advice and guidance to NSW SES members, ensuring risk mitigation and good practice in procurement.

The Coordinator Procurement reports directly to the Manager Procurement – Equipment and Fleet Portfolio.

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent. NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to save lives and protect communities.

While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

Be a self-starter with good time management skills and be a no-fuss problem solver;

Have significant experience leading complex procurement activities;

Be an experienced and effective team leader who can motivate and develop your team members;

Have high level written and verbal communications skills;

Be proficient in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and

Hold relevant qualifications in procurement or business management and/or equivalent professional experience.

Previous experience in NSW Government procurement, and/or in-depth knowledge of the NSW Government Procurement Policy Framework would be advantageous but is not mandatory.

Attractive salary range of $110,266.00 to $122,058.00 plus 11.5% superannuation and leave loading
