Corporate Applications Officer

About the Role:

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Corporate Applications Officer to join our Information Services team.

This role is pivotal in providing first and second-level support for our internal and external user base, focusing on the Mackay Regional Council's applications, data warehouse, and other accessible data stores. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth running of the Information Services Program, fostering a self-service environment for all staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Detect, record, and resolve issues within the applications and data warehouse environments, escalating to senior administrators or third-party software vendors as necessary.
  • Respond to and resolve IT support requests, delivering high-quality customer service in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Contribute to the development, documentation, and governance of processes and policies within the Information Services program.
  • Liaise with application users on technical support issues.
  • Learn and adapt to modern technologies, becoming familiar with implemented business software as necessary.
  • Recommend, document, and implement procedural changes to enhance the application and data warehouse environment.
  • Contribute to backup, disaster recovery plans, and cyber security for all applications and data warehouse elements.
  • Develop, maintain, and document procedures enabling a self-service environment for all staff.
  • Perform other responsibilities as delegated by the Immediate Supervisor within the scope of this position.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential

  • Certificate III in Information Technology, Information Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in a similar role.

Desirable

  • Diploma of Information Technology, Information Management, or related discipline.
  • Relevant Microsoft Certifications.
  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in the corporate applications and database environment to undertake the range of activities required.
  • Experience in a support role following ITIL best practices to undertake the range of activities required.
  • Experience providing a high level of personalised customer service.
  • Desirable
  • Experience in SharePoint Online, and Teams administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience with SQL, data transformation and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience with Infor Pathway, Technology One CiAnywhere applications.

Skills

Essential

  • Analytical approach to solving problems of limited difficulty, using knowledge, judgment and skills acquired through qualifications and/or previous work experience.
  • Proficient in the operation of SaaS (Software as a Service) modern interfaces to enable application modification and configuration to meet business needs.
  • Ability to apply customisation and programming knowledge and skills in systems development, maintenance, and implementation under direction of a senior officer.
  • Sound communication skills both verbal and in writing, including conflict resolution skills and the ability to display tact, discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Ability to assist in a range of functions and/or contribute to interpretation of matters for which there are no clearly established practices and procedures.
  • Sound planning, organisational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to make sound judgements.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a flexible approach to work priorities together with the capacity to work effectively independently.

Special Requirements:

  • Includes a rostered work system within the standard opening hours.
  • Some out-of-hours work, and domestic travel may be required.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours work.
