Curtin University is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Research Engagement Librarian to join our Library Research Services team. As part of a professional and proactive team of specialists, you will be at the forefront of delivering expert research support to our academic and research community.
About the Role
As a Research Engagement Librarian, you will provide high-level specialist advice and training to academic staff and higher degree by research (HDR) students in research impact, metrics, and researcher profiles. You will partner with the Research Office, faculties and researchers to enhance research visibility, impact, and quality. There will be opportunities to contribute to other research support services and Library strategic priorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver expert research support services to academic staff and HDR students, primarily leading the research impact and metrics service.
- Lead the development of online, self-help resources and training modules related to research impact and bibliometrics.
- Build strong relationships across faculties and key university areas to inform Library strategy and services.
- Develop and deliver training programs and targeted communications.
- Contribute to the development and promotion of open research, responsible use of metrics, and researcher profiles.
- Collaborate on strategic projects and high-profile events such as Thesis Fest.
Selection Criteria:
- Completion of a professional qualification in librarianship combined with considerable professional experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in providing research support services within a university or similar organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and use relevant technologies and a commitment to continuous professional development evidenced by awareness of emerging trends and technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with academics and researchers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, apply innovative approaches to problem solving and work flexibly in a rapidly changing environment and within limited time frames.
- Demonstrated excellent presentation skills, including experience as a trainer.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated understanding of scholarly communication, research processes, open research practices, research data management in an academic environment.
